How to Enter:
You can enter to win literally hundreds of contests at the Elko County Fair, ranging from entering your grandmother's chocolate chip cookie recipe in the Home Arts competitions, to measuring up for the "Best Beard" contest on the Newmont Family Fun Stage, to showing a working cowhorse you've spent years training to excellence or a racehorse that's ready to run. Here are the instructions and/or forms you'll need for entering and competing at the Fair. This page also includes applications for commercial vendors interested in buying booth space at the Fair.
HOME ARTS COMPETITIONS:
All Nevada residents can enter the home arts competitions. To enter, bring your exhibits to the Home Arts Building between 8AM and 6PM Thursday, August 29th. Each exhibitor must pay a $5 fee PER EXHIBITOR, not per entry. There is no upper limit on the number of entries each exhibitor may enter; however, only one entry can be made in each class. Exhibits may be picked up starting at 3PM Monday, September 2nd. Visit the Home Arts page here for complete, downloadable information on classes, rules and judging standards.
4-H livestock, horse and dog classes, as well as the Fashion Review, Speech and Demonstration Contest, and the Talent Show & Skit Review are open to Elko County 4-H members in good standing. NEWMONT FAMILY FUN STAGE COMPETITIONS:
The Newmont Family Fun stage will feature a variety of competitions for all ages, including Fair staples like pie eating contests, best beard/mustache contests, stick horse races, etc. For a complete list of contests, and to enter, stop by the Newmont Family Fun Stage located near the Fairground entrance. ELKO COUNTY FAIR COWBOY COLOR CHASE:
The Elko County Fair Cowboy Color Chase is a 5K run/walk organized by the people behind the Ruby Mountain Relay. The race begins and ends at the Fairgrounds Friday morning, August 30th, and features "color stations" where participants have the opportunity to get COVERED in color. After the race, participants can take part in the Fair Parade, where even more color can be had. Those wearing their color shirts will enjoy half-priced grandstand admissions Friday after the parade.

ELKO COUNTY FAIR PARADE: The Fair Parade steps off at 11:00 AM Friday, August 30th and runs through Downtown Elko, ending at the Fairgrounds. It has been organized for years by the Elko Lions Club. WORKING STOCKHORSE EVENTS:

TEAM ROPING: Team ropers may enter the competitions by visiting the Fair Office Sunday, Sept. 1, between 11AM and 5PM. All entries must be paid for at that time.
TEAM BRANDING: All branding teams must be entered and paid for by August 23rd at 5PM. Click here to download the entry form you'll need.
TEAM RANCH DOCTORING: All ranch doctoring teams must be entered and paid for by August 31st at 5PM. Click here to download the entry form you'll need.
NEVADA STALLION STAKES:
Stallions must be nominated by July 1st of each year. Late nominations will be accepted until August 1st with a penalty. Click here for a stallion nomination form.
Rider entries must be completed and paid for by August 1st of each year. Elko County NRCHA entries must be completed and paid for by 12PM August 23rd. Later entries will be accepted with financial and competitive penalties. Click here to download the entry form.
